Drumbeat

Circadian rhythms, the coming and going of seasons, cultural holidays, and many more elements make up the drumbeat of life. At Awell, our drumbeat helps us look ahead, stand still at times, and look back at past performances so we can learn and improve.

This is the company-wide drumbeat:

• Each year we set targets, reinstate our mission and vision, and revisit our strategy

• Each quarter we check our progress, bottlenecks and most risky assumptions

• Every six weeks we define priorities in our next product cycle and we hold a retrospective

• Each week we set weekly goals and we provide formal updates to our team members on progress towards Value stream targets (see also https://awellhealth.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AH/pages/3592814642)

• Each time before a big new initiative we hold a premortem

Every team can have additional rituals. We make sure to write more than we talk so we limit the number of meetings to hold these rituals.
